Apple Inc. “outright lied” and willfully ignored an antitrust ruling to open up its App Store, a federal judge said late Wednesday as she blocked Apple from collecting new fees on certain purchases.
In a scathing ruling, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers found Apple AAPL had violated a 2021 injunction stemming from its trial with Epic Games, in which she ordered Apple to stop collecting 30% commissions for out-of-app purchases, and said she would forward her findings to the U.S. attorney for possible criminal contempt charges.
